CLASSES ARE CLOSED UNTIL MARCH 2026 ------- At the heart of our field trip experience is the Sadie Grace Farms Bee Barn, a specially designed learning space that allows groups to safely observe honeybees from behind secure screens and viewing areas. This setup provides an up-close look at live hives without direct contact, ensuring a safe and controlled environment for students, educators, and chaperones. Inside the Bee Barn, participants can watch bees at work, observe hive behavior, and learn how colonies function—all while remaining at a comfortable distance. This unique feature allows even younger students or first-time visitors to learn confidently and safely. ​ Our educational presentations are broken down by age and educational level, making each visit both engaging and developmentally appropriate. Younger students are introduced to basic bee biology, learning what bees are, why they matter, and how they help plants grow through pollination. Lessons focus on simple concepts like the life cycle of a bee, the roles of the queen, workers, and drones, and how honey is made. Safety is emphasized through age-appropriate instruction on how to respect bees and understand their behavior. Some Topics: Basics of the bee/bee biology Learn to identify different stages of honey bee development Roles and responsibilities of the bees in their colony Equipment Beehive components Question and answer session at the end of class Field trips are available on Tuesday - Wednesday between 9-12:30pm. We begin offering them on March 1 and stop in early November depending on the weather dependent. The fee is $5 per student, teachers and chaperons get in free. There is a minimum of $50 to book a field trip. ​ YOU CAN NOT ATTEND THE CLASS IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO BEE STINGS ​​​ Please note that this fee is nonrefundable if canceled within 48 hours of the start date, so please check your schedule before signing up.
